Derby on my Mind

Last month, for cinco de mayo and the Kentucky Derby, my friends and I went to a charity party benefitting a local organizaition, CASA that helps out local mothers in not so great situations and has a place to stay during those hard times. 13 Ugly Men was the group who put it together here in Tampa.

It was a great time and always fun to dress up. They even had a horse for photos, back drops, mint juleps (DUH), the race playing and just overall good atmosphere. One day, I really would want to go to the derby. That’s a conversation for another day though. Have you been? If so, let me know any tips or pointers on how to prep for it if so!

My friend and I ended up matching with our hats or headbands really for cinco/derby meet each other. I wish it was my hat but I actually borrowed it. Super cute though. I love me a good theme! Anywho, here are some shots from the party. We had a ton of fun and glad we got to support a great cause. I’ve donated clothes and items to them and it always a great feeling to have in general. Where do you volunteer or support locally? Always great hearing about other organizations.
